Our most popular outing, Excursion I, covers a morning visit to a fortress constructed in the 14th century and then take a stroll in the medieval town of Acquaviva Picena. Just 10 minutes down the road, we will visit a family-owned winery, Azienda Vinicola Capecci Roberto.

Before arriving at the winery, we will pick up some Italian cheeses and delicacies to enjoy on a terrace overlooking the vineyards while tasting exquisite wines.

The owner, Roberto Capecci, learned the art of growing grapes and winemaking from his grandfather. Roberto has taken these arts to a new level in what I have witnessed over the years of Italian small business using modern technology to create artisanal products.

He will enlighten us on some his growing and hand harvesting techniques that lay the foundation for a chemical free fermentation and aging in his wooden vats. The end results are exquisite wines laden with new innovations such as his latest, Orange Wine.

If you’d like to get a head start, visit his webpage at: https://www.robertocapecci.com/ It’s in Italian, but it speaks for itself in all languages.
