Itinerary
Journey from the charming seaside town of San Benedetto for a one hour scenic drive that takes us into the mountains. At the tiny hamlet of Umito in the Monti della Laga our adventure begins. Follow a crystal-clear mountain stream along ancient forest paths, where the only sounds are flowing water and birdsong. The trail gradually climbs, revealing sweeping views and quiet moments to pause, breathe, and take it all in. At the end of the journey awaits the hidden gem: Cascata della Prata, a stunning waterfall cascading through untouched wilderness—a place that feels worlds away from modern life. We return to Umito for a leisurely lunch at a family-run agriturismo, where the flavors of the region come to life—simple, honest dishes prepared with ingredients grown just steps away. Scenic drive from the Seaside at San Benedetto into the Monti della Laga region in the Apennini Mountain chain. The drive will take approximately one hour as we go through the steeper winding roads to the town of Umito where our hike begins.

We’ll be following the old mule trails along a mountain stream that connected the villages for thousands of years. There are many scenic view points and rest stops along the way. The hike to the Cascata (waterfalls) is about two miles with an ascent of approximately 2000Ft.
We’ll finish the hike where we started and have lunch at an Agriturismo restaurant. This is an Italian certification that the restaurant is serving local produced products in traditional style.
